Celebrated World Tourism Day
The World Tourism Day is celebrated worldwide in September, the Department of Hotel Management began with the celebrations on 26th September 2019. The theme for this year was ‘Tourism andJobs: A Better Future for All’. Chairman CDP and Dean, Dr N.K Chadha addressed the students regarding the rapid changes in the industry and how the students should keep themselves updated with the ever changing expectations of the Employers and Industry. He encouraged the students to become job creators by being innovative and creating business ideas.
Since all industries across the globe are changing rapidly with an increased focus on responsibility and sustainability specially towards environment. Tourism industry has also kept pace with these changes and has significantly contributed by making changes to align with the vision of a better today and tomorrow. In the recent times, social media has been creating awareness about the serious consequences faced due to the use of plastic.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has supported this concern and with effect from 2nd October “single use plastic” would be banned, however, in his recent address, Shri Narendra Modi mentioned about the need of a behavioral change with regards to responsibility towards environment.In order to increase awareness on this important issue, the students along with Faculty from the Department of Hotel Management conducted an awareness drive across different food outlets in the University sensitizing the persons working there regarding this issue.
The session was attended by Dr Nandini Srivastava, Prof Hotel Management and CDP, Prof S K Saluja,Director Hotel Management and all Faculty and students.
