Manav Rachna on a roll with the visit of Mr. Kishore Jayaraman, President, Rolls-Royce India & South Asia
- Jayaraman stresses on the need to ‘Invent everyday’ and congratulated MREI for its deep Research and Development focus
- He said that future of India lies in automation and designing its own technology
“Rolls Royce invests One billion pounds every year in Research & Development”, shared Mr. Jayaraman in an interaction with students of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) that left the audience spellbound. He congratulated MREI for its strong research and development focus that has resulted in numerous National and International laurels. Mr. Kishore Jayaraman, President, Rolls-Royce India & South Asia said: “If we don’t invent every day, we will die. If you want India to thrive in the global economy, then the strength lies in designing our own technology and exporting it to other countries. To that effect, it is very important for educational institutions to contribute in the Nation-Building process. It is all the more heartening to note that Manav Rachna has been working extensively in the areas of Skill Development”. He expressed confidence that such collaborative efforts will place MREI in a different league of Institutions in the coming future.
Mr. Kishore Jayaraman leads all operations and activities of Rolls-Royce in India and South Asia. He has worked and lived in Taiwan, Philippines, Turkey and Holland apart from having done business extensively across other geographies. Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD-MREI; Dr. N C Wadhwa, VC-Manav Rachna International University; Dr. V K Mahna, PVC, Manav Rachna University (MRU); Dr. Jaideep Singh, Director- Industry Interface, MRU; among other senior dignitaries from MREI were present on the occasion.
Mr. Kishore Jayaraman provided inspirational guidance through a corporate presentation of Rolls Royce wherein he traced the company’s rich history and evolution and the way it has been delivering better power for a changing world. Mr Jayaraman also defined innovation in terms of its “simplicity to solve problems” and called upon engineers to be “humble and be aware of one’s limitations while being true to one’s ethics and integrity”. He said further, “College life lays down the foundation for students wherein the learning begins. But ‘learning to learn’ happens in the real world which comes through teamwork.”
On this special occasion, the Mechanical engineering students of MREI presented Mr. Kishore Jayaraman with an aero model specially designed by them. Ankur Bhalla, an alumni of MREI won the prize for posing the best question at the interactive session following the guest lecture.
In an effort to strengthen Industry-Academia interface, MREI has been giving students the opportunity to interact and learn from the life experiences of industry leaders. Having Mr Jayaraman amongst us is a windfall as it is bound to motivate our students to catalyze their thoughts and give shape to their out-of-the-box ideas.” The visit of Mr. Jayaraman is very special for as MREI is the first Indian higher institution campus that he has visited during his tenure.
