Health Diagnostic and Flexibility Testing Camp Organized at Manav Rachna International University, celebrating World Physiotherapy Day
Faculty of Applied Science, Manav Rachna International University in collaboration with QRG CENTRAL HOSPITAL organized HEALTH DIAGNOSTIC & FLEXIBILITY TESTING CAMP on the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day in the MRIU campus here today.
The World Physiotherapy Day celebrations brought together experts from academic institutions, professions and research organizations in the field of Physiotherapy for sharing knowledge, expertise and experience in the recent trends. While Dr. N.C Wadhwa, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MRIU, was the chief guest for the event; Prof. GL Khanna, Dean, Faculty of applied sciences, MRIU; Ms. Vesna Jacob, International Pilates Trainer and Wellness Instructor and QRG medical practitioners such as Dr. Gajendra Goyal, HOD, cardiology; Dr. Tarun Sharma, HOD, Neuro and Spine Surgery; Dr. Kapil Chauhan, HOD, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Services, QRG hospital among other senior dignitaries graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. N.C Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU, said, “It is a delightful moment for us as we are just through with a weeklong nutrition program that was held in the MRIU campus on the occasion of National Nutrition week. We also celebrate WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY DAY every year to sensitise people about the contribution of physiotherapy to the society at large. Physiotherapy is not a new science; it has been there since time immemorial. However, with the passage of time, it has evolved and now students are being taught various aspects of it with which they can further serve the humanity. Physiotherapy is needed in every sphere of life and across all age groups. The efficacy of physiotherapy is such that it has no side effects.”
Speaking at the event, Ms. Vesna Jacob, International Pilates Trainer and Wellness Instructor, presented her views on the changing role of physiotherapists in the contemporary world, encouraging the physiotherapy students, she said, “Pursue your noble profession with passion and help cure and improve the mobility of the sick and the immobile patients”.
Explaining the importance of good eating habits and exercise in preventing cardiac diseases, Dr Gajender Goyal, HOD, Cardiology, QRG Hospital, stated, “Physiotherapy plays an important role in improving movement, activity and health at all ages. Physiotherapy is needed in every walk of life. So the physiotherapists with right knowledge and expertise will always be in demand.”
The day also involved a Health Camp at the campus in which check-ups including ECG, Echo, BMI, Physiotherapy Consultation, Blood Sugar Test, Oxygen Saturation, Blood Pressure Measurement, Nutrition Consultation were conducted for the Manav Rachna family. The occasion witnessed extensive discussions and action plans to spread awareness about physiotherapy and to take physiotherapy services to the masses.
