Speaking at the discourse session, Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna International University, said, “Shrimad Bhagvad is a beautiful spiritual text which provides a solution to all of life’s problems. It was a great source of inspiration to Shri Mahatma Gandhi who has been known to extol its virtues.”
Addressing the gathering, Shri R.C. Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor, Manav Rachna University, said, “Gita can cleanse the souls of all those who partake of its wisdom and sayings.” Within a short span of time, he enunciated the significance of each chapter, much to the satisfaction of everyone present.
Dr Sanjay Srivastava, Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna University, pointed out, “Gita’s evolution dates back to 5,151 years and is the only text where people mark its genesis with a ‘Jayanti’ to commemorate its inception.” He added further that of the total 700 slokas, Shri Krishna Bhagwan is said to have uttered 574 slokas which have a wealth of meaning and significance enshrined in them. Stalwarts and freedom fighters like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Vinoba Bhave and Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan quoted extensively from the Gita while Mahatma Gandhi himself regarded the text as akin to his mother and gave the holy book a revered status.
