World Sleep Day Celebration
Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS), Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, MRIIRS celebrated World Sleep Day on March 15, 2019. This day is celebrated on the Friday before spring vernal equinox of each year. Department of Nutrition and Dietetics celebrated it with a theme ‘Healthy Sleep, Healthy Aging’. Dr Deepali Chaursiya, National Coordinator, ICSEYoga was the key speaker on the topic ‘Role of Sleep on Better Health’.
She is a specialist in yoga and naturopathy. Currently, she is involved with conducting yoga championships at national and international level. During her lecture, she enumerated the role of sleep with health and diseases.
She also demonstrated many Yoga Mudras to accomplish a good sleep. Along with her, the yoga instructor Mr Ankit Panchaal demonstrated yoga postures and mudras to enhance the body flexibility and movements for good health. Overall, the interaction was meaningful with a message that good sleep can prevent us from many diseases and disorders.
