World Physiotherapy Day
Department of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Applied Science, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies, observed World Physiotherapy Day (which falls on September 8, 2018) with the theme ‘Physical Activity & Mental Health’ to inspire young and aspiring physiotherapists.
The event commenced with Saraswati Vandana and a ceremonial lighting of lamp. Dr. Sarita Sachdeva, Dean FAS welcomed the guests, explained the importance of world physiotherapy day. Dr N C Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIIRS said, “Physiotherapy is needed in every sphere of life and across all age groups. The efficacy of physiotherapy is such that it has no side effects.”
Dr M K Soni, PVC, MRIIRS lauded the Department’s efforts in putting together the programme. Mr. R K Arora, Registrar, MRIIRS stressed that due to busy lifestyle the role of a physiotherapist has become even more crucial. Dr. Dharam Pandey, Director & HoD, Physiotherapy, BLK Super Specialty Hospital, also the chief guest of the event, explained the role of “Power of Persistence” towards the road to become a successful physiotherapist.
The highlight of the event was the inspiring speech by alumnus Dr. Akshay Arora, HoD, Physiotherapy, W Pratiksha Hospital; who shared his experiences with the students. The event also included motivational talk by Mr. Arvind Sharda, Life & Relationship Coach. Dr. Jolly Roy Sports Psychologist, MRIIRS highlighted the importance of psychological well being in improving sports and athletic training. Dr. Pooja Anand, HoD, Physiotherapy announced the prizes, certificates & felicitations for the deserving faculties and students as Star Achievers and Outstanding Performers.
