Fourteen students of BPT 6th semester under the tutelage of Dr Shobhit Saxena attended a one day symposium on ‘ World Parkinson’s Day’ held at Indian Spinal Injuries centre, Vasant Kunj on 11th April 2019.

Parkinson’s Disease is a debilitating condition of the brain with no known definitive cure as of today. It is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement with symptoms starting with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand and progressing to stiffness or slowing of movement.

An interactive and enthralling pre and post lunch sessions were held by highly learned  medical professionals covering topics pertinent to the etiology , symptoms , diagnosis, nuclear-imaging , management of Parkinson’s disease along with the Physiotherapeutic rehabilitation. The Students were also given a tour of the high tech Assistive technology Centre & the state of the art physiotherapy unit of ISIC before commencing for lunch. The highlight of the session was an interactive session on hydrotherapy. The session ceased around 4:30 pm leaving us with a lot of enlightenment & edification. That has indeed helped augment the competency of the students.
