World Breastfeeding Week, Guest Lecture by Dr. Mahima Bakshi
World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies and mothers around the world. On this occasion, a guest lecture was organized by the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics, Faculty of Applied Sciences on ‘Importance of Breast feeding’ by Dr Mahima Bakshi, Wellness expert and Physiotherapist.
Dr Mahima Bakshi, is a renowned woman and child/adolescent wellness expert in Delhi/NCR. She underwent training in women’s health under the guidance of Dr. Ali Irani, president of Indian Association of Physiotherapist, in Mumbai. She is a strong supporter of breastfeeding and launched the first lactation clinic in Faridabad at Fortis Escorts Hospital to guide mothers on lactation challenges.
The lecture was attended by all the faculty members along with students of Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. To celebrate the occasion, a poster competition was also organized on the theme ‘Empower parents, enable breastfeeding’. The first prize for the best poster was given to Ms Shivani from MSc I semester of clan Air Falcon and second prize was awarded to Ms. Vaishali from MSc III semester of clan Air Falcon.
