Webinar/ Online workshop: Mendeley: A Complete Solution to Organize Research
In light of COVID-19, which has been announced as a global pandemic by WHO, GOI has taken the necessary measures to control the possible spread of this highly contagious virus and announced the countrywide lockdown.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies (MRIIRS) organized an Online Workshop on the topic Mendeley: A Complete Solution to Organize Research.
This webinar focused on creating citations and bibliographies, accessing the online version, and synchronizing accounts on Mendeley, in order to access chosen papers easily at any point of time.
The subject expert, Mr. Chaitanya Baweja, is a Research Associate at Imperial College, London. He is working as a Data Scientist with Imperial College London in collaboration with Facebook Research. His current work focuses on Causal Inferencing, He has worked on a variety of subjects in the field of Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning, and Continual Learning.
In this workshop, more than 180 participants got an opportunity to learn the logistic part of downloading and installing Mendeley onto their systems.
Mr. Baweja, detailed the way to organize research references on Mendeley, creation of folders and sub-folders to organize all research in one place, and the addition of articles into them. Participants also learned to search relevant research articles through Mendeley, adding in-line citations and creation of reference lists on a word document.
He introduced the online interface of Mendeley, that enables to connect with like-minded researchers, to join and form groups and networks, and to discover and share papers. He has skilled the participants, on developing and displaying academic profiles to include relevant papers, CV, etc.
It can be easily monitored, how many times a paper has been viewed, read, and discussions can be generated by your research. One can choose to embed this profile on other websites e.g. on a blog.
