Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Dakshina Foundation and MREI invited stalwarts from industry and academia for a Webinar on National Education Policy 2020 (for Universities of Haryana). The webinar was chaired by Shri Atul Kothari, National Secretary, Shiksha Sanskriti Uthhan Nyas, and as special guests Smt. Upasna Aggarwal, Founder, Dakshina Foundation and Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions joined and imparted their valuable inputs.

Dr. N C Wadhwa said, “New Education Policy 2020 has emerged as the game changer in the education sector. However with a revolution, NEP has also brought a lot of curiosity as to how India will emerge as the global leader in education sector.”

Smt. Upasna Aggarwal, quoted “now is the time to become a ‘karamyogi’ and implement what policy has been put in front of us and make it a huge success”

Dr. Prashant Bhalla, said “After 34 years here we are with a new policy but the same vision to make India a global leader in education sector. Now the focus has shifted to reintroduce education in a way so that there is a symphony in industry and academia. Knowledge driven education is now being integrated with experiential learning and that is definitely going to be a turning point. Now research funding and govt. support is being given to public and private educational sector alike and that will bring surplus returns in the near future”

Shri Atul Kothari, “this is the 3rd education policy and after a very long wait we have New Education Policy 2020 where the focus is not just education but to develop an entire generation that takes pride in India and the culture we represent. The vision is such that any student who has invested even a year should not walk away without any certificate and the autonomy prevails within the educational system.”

Dr, C Rajkumar shared the ten big ideas he believed should be taken from the New Education Policy 2020 and an awareness should be created about them. He said, “it is important that we tell people about it and make them understand the revolutionary and radical ideas new education Policy has brought. The NEP has brought world class education to not just select few but to entire generation and that is something which will definitely bring a change. Now the focus has shifted from the public or private education to rather who is more competent and can strengthen better and yes that is something which will lead to more research from the various corners of the nation. The public funding and private philanthropy is definitely going to open many doors for those who seek the best in education and the role of private sector will definitely be enhanced by this big step up.”

Professor Rajbir Singh said, “Our education policy be such that instead of our students going abroad, the students from there must come here to explore our best”

Dr Sujata Shahi, shared that “A new door for liberal education has paved a path and the choice based credit system of UGC will lead to a new era where the students will have a medium to pursue their passion. The liberal education era will be the one to bring a considerable change”

Credit Accumulation and Exit Policy is a revolution that will bring the much desired change and the drop out levels will be decreased

Atul Kothari concluding speech: Skill Development, Social Entrepreneurship, and Industry-Academia integration are the new era deliberations and focus points and we all collectively need to dedicate and invest ourselves for this holistic new policy to be a success.

This is a new phase and every change brings challenges and opportunities alike. Training of faculties and teachers is another shift we need to bring and yes we can do that with precision because they are the ones who will implement, and their involvement is of supreme importance.
