Webinar on ‘Building Information Modelling: A Tool for Creating Intelligent 3D Models’
Department of Civil Engineering, FET, MRIIRS organized a webinar on BIM (Building Information Modelling): A Tool for Creating Intelligent 3D Models. The aim of this webinar was to enable the participants to know the basics of BIM, widely known as the backbone of modern-day project management and the construction industry.
The event began with an overview by Ms Sonal Bhugra, and was followed by a welcome address by Dr Sunita Bansal, Professor & Head, Department of Civil Engineering, FET, MRIIRS. Dr Bansal welcomed the speaker Mr Shubham Verma, who has extensive experience in this area.
She gave a comprehensive introduction of BIM. She emphasized that as a civil engineer, we not only have to design complex buildings but also keep a tab on saving or rather efficiently utilizing the elements and materials and believe in the motto of SAFE, SUSTAINABLE and DURABLE structure. The session was attended by 32 participants which lasted for more than one and a half hours.
This was followed by a session delivered by the resource person Mr Shubham Verma, he started the session explaining the process for creating and managing all the information on a project before, during and after construction. He talked about the leverage users have while working on BIM in creating 3D, 4D, 5D, 6D and 7D models. He also explained the software features:
- 3D modelling and documentation,
- Generating associative documentation,
- Managing and sharing the properties for other services,
- Connection between elements and includes the properties and specification for quantity take-off.
The extremely informative and interactive session was followed by a Q & A session.
