‘Walkathon’ to promote Road Safety
Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) actively participated in the Walkathon being organized by 1 Crore Steps in association with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and Club D2S in order to create awareness about Road Safety. Mr. Subramanian Narayanan accompanied by Mr. Ramashankar Pandey, MD- Hella India Pvt. Ltd graced the occasion. Taking the busiest road, they have undertaken a walkathon from Kanyakumari to Kashmir as a mass movement for Road Safety covering 20 cities across South, West and North India in 60 days for 1 mission. Also, present was Mr. Vikram Kapoor, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Faridabad.
‘This is not Road Safety but Arresting Road Death’, Mr. Ramashankar Pandey said. He emphasized that we should understand that ‘road safety’ is something related to life and death. Mr. Subramanian Narayanan (Never an athlete, never a runner) has completed 10 crore steps so far and is walking to achieve more… Addressing the students, he said, “Be the message in yourself” and “Figure out a way to survive together”.
Mr. Vikram Kapoor asked the students to be aware of the way dealing with ours and someone’s life, and highlighted that use of mobile phones while driving should be prohibited. Students were also made aware of the traffic policies in Faridabad and Sruakshit School Vahan Policy by Mr. Satish Acharya, Legal Head- MCF and RTA.
The personalities and the case studies they shared, not only inspired the students but also motivated them to ‘be a change’.
The highlight of the day was the ‘Human Chain’ formed by the dignitaries present and the students to promote the movement for road safety.
