Department Of Students Welfare, MRIU organized a Solo Singing Competition, “VOICE OF MANAV RACHNA” to uncover the singing talent in the campus. The Prelims and Mains were held on 20th and 21st April, 2016 respectively in T Block Auditorium. The competition saw a whooping participation of 70+ students from various faculties across the campus out of which 25 were selected for the Mains round, based on mastery of lyrics , stage presence , timing, pronunciation, pitch and voice texture.
The Preliminary round was judged by Mr. Nakshatra Pandey (Coordinator, Students Welfare) whereas the Mains were judged by Ms. Chandna Kapoor (Head, Music Department, MRIS). Prof. I.K. Kilam (Dean Students Welfare, MRIU) was present during the mains event on 21st April 2016.
A unique miscellany of ghazals, bollywood, retro, western and patriotic songs were witnessed. The venue was filled with loud cheers from the audience which further boosted the morale of the participants.
A soulful performance by Mr. Nakshatra Pandey, judge of the day post prelims was an icing on the cake for the event. Also a special wild card challenge was proposed by him, wherein, the participants had to perform ‘The Breathless Song’ and the best performer would win a direct entry to the final round.
Vaani, 1st year BDS student, MRDC was entitled “Voice of Manav Rachna”. Adhiraj Mathur (2nd year, B.Tech CSE, FET) was the first runner up followed by Leena Pande (2nd year B.tech CSE, MRU) second runner up of the event. Along with them Shivmurti (1st year, B.Ed) and R. Kritika Kaveri (1st year CSE, FET) won the consolation prize.
At the end, with the distribution of certificates, the two-day event was marked as a houseful of entertainment, fun and a great learning experience.
