HARD AND SOFT TISSUE SYMPOSIUM BY GIESTLICH

Recently, the postgraduate students of the Department of Prosthodontics attended a
conference organized by an established team of hard and soft tissue grafting materials from
Switzerland- Giestlich. It was a symposium which was held in the heart of Delhi at Le
Meridian, New Delhi with a lot of students and clinicians present from in and around the
capital.
There were two renowned speakers, Dr. Yazad Gandhi who has done his training from
Sweden for regenerative procedures and Dr. Neel Bhatavedekar who is an ITI fellow and the
1 st US board certified periodontist in India.
It was an informative course which started with explaining with the case selection required
for grafting. They also explained different materials which can be used and the changes they
can make in the treatment plan for the patient. There were many cases presented and
explained by the speakers which showcased results with absolute excellency. We also got
aware of new protocols for grafting procedures.
After the completion with the basics till 1:30 in the afternoon, it was followed by lunch which
led to the second half of the conference.
The later part opened a new learning which was about the sinus floor elevation, their
indications, rationale, science and management of the complication. It unlocked the doors of
new horizons for the postgraduate students.
With the completion of the lectures, it was followed with felicitation of certificates by the
pioneer of Prosthodontics, Padma Shri Dr. Mahesh Verma.
With this, the programme came to a close and a vote of thanks was given followed by the
national anthem.
