Vaisakhi Celebration
Department of Students’ Welfare, MRIIRS celebrated Baisakhi with the Manav Rachna Family. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. Shivangi Maletia, a dental surgeon by profession, a passionate coach of personal empowerment for women, and the founder of Productive Pageantry and other guests included Mr. Jaspreet Singh Rehan, a very famous actor and Mrs. Harpreet from Faridabad Ladies Club. Also present during the occasion were Dr. M.K. Soni, Pro Vice Chancellor, MRIIRS; Brig. S. N. Setia, Director IEC; Dr. Krishna Kant, Dean FET, MRIIRS; Mrs. Sanyogita Sharma, Director MRIS; Dr. Arundeep Singh, Principal, MRDC; Dr. Sangeeta Banga, Department of Students’ Welfare, MRU; Ms. Gurjeet Kaur Chawla, Assoc. Dean Students’ Welfare along with all the HOD’s and senior functionaries.
The celebration commenced with a beautiful Punjabi folk song by Harkunwar Singh (3rd year, FET student). International Bhutanese students who are pursuing a course at Manav Rachna, gave a glance of their culture with their folk songs and dances. Bhutanese Girls also performed their traditional Rigsar for the Manav Rachna family and everyone was mesmerized with their beauty.
Mr. Jaspreet Singh Rehan, a Punjabi influencer, actor and a singer presented a small documentary of his life story. Members from Faridabad Ladies Club put the stage on fire when they captured the audience with their energetic Bhangra Performance.
An Ethno Walk was organized for the faculty and staff of Manav Rachna family. More than 80 faculty members participated in the walk who all came dressed in beautiful attires which included Patiala Salwar, Mekhala, Banarasi Saree, Kanjiwaram and Mysore Sarees, and many more. The competition was judged by the Chief Guests of the day. The Best Group was won by the CSE Department and the title of Miss. ETHNO was won by Dr. Akshara Singh, MRDC and Mr. ETHNO went to Mr. Farhaz Khan, CDC, MREI. The title of the Best Dressed- Female was bagged by Dr. Charu Pujara, Associate Professor, FET, and Best Dressed-Male went to Mr. Nitesh, CDC, MREI.
The Students of the Bhangra Group of Manav Rachna performed a beautiful dance number. TARANG, the Fashion Society of Manav Rachna gave a tribute to all the Sikh soldiers, farmers and friends followed by Bhutanese students performing their traditional dance.
In the end, Dr. Shivangi Maletia congratulated everyone for their efforts and told how difficult it was to choose because everyone looked beautiful and presentable. The results were announced and prize was distributed among the winner.
