US Elections and INDIA: A PARADIGM SHIFT
The Department of Commerce, Faculty of Commerce and Business Studies organized a panel discussion on US Elections and India: A Paradigm Shift. Mr. Partho Kunar and Mr. Sharad Verma were invited as guest panelists for the discussion.
The first session was taken by Mr. Partho Kunar, who enlightened the audience with his immense knowledge of India-US trade. He also showed a comparison of the two U.S. presidents i.e., Mr. Donald Trump and Mr. Joe Biden from the point of view of their work. He concluded his session with the line ‘His smile says it all’.
The second session was taken up by Mr. Sharad Verma. He made the audience aware of the last three U.S. presidents. He discussed the impact of U.S. elections on India. He pointed out the mindsets of democratic and republic and discussed his views on foreign relations.
The conclusion of the whole discussion was that in the interest of the USA, the Biden administration is likely to continue to increase the business relationship with India which will include encouraging Indian companies to increase investments in the USA. This could also result in reducing restrictions on H-1B visas. However, in view of the current situation of high unemployment in the USA, the number of H-1B visas may not be increased much.
The call from Mr. Biden to our Prime Minister Modi, where he talks about strengthening democracy at home and abroad, affirms that the relationship between the countries will continue to be strong. So, we are keeping our fingers crossed to experience the same.
