Unveiling of trophy for the 15th Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge 2022
Manav Rachna will begin the year 2022 with its 15th edition of the Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge, starting 8th January. The cup was set in motion by late founder Dr O P Bhalla and follows the belief that sports inculcate life-long skills, camaraderie and bonding among players.
This year, 28 leading corporates from Delhi-NCR will be competing for the cup. Participants include Aaj Tak (Delhi); Hero Motocorp( Gurugram); Maruti Suzuki (Gurugram); JCB (Faridabad); Escorts Construction (Faridabad); ACE (Faridabad); Honda Cars (Greater Noida); Sarvodaya Hospital (Faridabad); NHPC (Faridabad); Honda Motorcycles (Gurugram); National Highways Authority of India (Delhi); IIFL-Wealth (Delhi); Adidas (Gurugram; Metafab (Faridabad); Tata Consultancy Services; Press Club of India; Wave Infratech; Indian Oil(R&D), ; knorr-Bremse, Accenture, KPMG, Dabur India and Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (Faridabad) are participating in the Cup, this year. HDFC Bank( Delhi), Gates India, SEC-RJMT engineering PVT LTD., Accord Hospital and HCL (Noida) , will be joining the competition for the first time.
The Champions Trophy of this coveted tournament was unveiled yesterday, 23rd December, 2021, in the presence of Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions; Mr. Sarkar Talwar, Director-sports, MREI and captains/representatives of other teams.
On November 16th, 2021, Manav Rachna Educational Institution was bestowed upon the most prestigious Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar 2021. The honor was received by Dr. Prashant Bhalla , President, MREI and Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI at the grand ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Rashtriya Bhawan. In addition, the Director of Sports, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions- Mr. Sarkar Talwar has been bestowed the much-coveted Dronacharya Award (lifetime category) for outstanding coaches in sports and games, 2021.
These awards show the institute’s dedication towards development and growth of sports. This tournament is another opportunity to bond and form better relationships with other corporations. As quoted by Dr. Amit Bhalla while welcoming all the participating teams,’We have been living in an uncertain time. What kept us going through the challenging year was our love for sports.’ He added how sports brings people together and provides invaluable lessons and unforgettable memories.He further added,’The power of sports is such, it gives you friends for life.’
His words created an air of nostalgia which was shared by the attending Captains. Representatives from each team were asked to voice their opinion and share memories from their previous experience of the cup. The ceremony ended on a happy note;sharing laughter and building up excitement for the matches.
A total of 55 matches will be played amongst the participants every weekend starting from January up to March with the finale on the 26th of March. Each team will be able to play at least 3 matches. The teams have been divided into 7 groups. Group matches will be played followed by knockout matches until 2 teams triumph over the rest.
