Two-Day refresher training program for SLOs culminates at Manav Rachna
The second day of the two-day Refresher and Empowerment Program for School Learning Enhancement Programme Officers (SLO), Faridabad organized by Faculty of Education, Manav Rachna University (MRU) in association with Department of Education, Faridabad (Govt. of Haryana), was a grand success with around 240 teachers participating in the sessions. Mr. D.C. Chaudhary, Advisor, Faridabad Navchetna Trust (FNT) gave the introduction of the initiatives undertaken by the Trust to support government schools in the region. Ms. Anita Sharma, BEO was also present during the day.
Dr. BabitaParashar, HoD, Faculty of Education, MRU conducted a session on ‘Assessment for Learning’ in which she motivated the teachers focus on differentiated learning prospects. She also discussed the stages of assessment process in a class: Diagnostic Assessment (Before learning), Formative Assessment (During learning), and Summative Assessment (After learning). Other sessions were conducted on ‘Effective Practices for Teaching Learning at Primary Stage/ Govt. Schemes’, ‘Identifying gaps in Learning’, and ‘21stCentury Skills Workshop’. Resource persons for these sessions were Mr. Parmod Kumar, Ms. VritiKalra and Ms. Reshma.
The day concluded with an Open House and Valedictory Session which was conducted by the experts from State Council of Educational Research and Training, Gurugram- Mr. ManojKashyap and Mr. Ashwini Kaushik.
Open House gave each participant the opportunity to share the issues they are facing in their respective schools and received solutions for the same. The participants were quite enthusiastic and had a faith in the system that the condition will improve.
Mr. ManojKashyap, expert from SCERT said, “Such Refresher and Empowerment Programmes provide a wonderful opportunity to the teachers to interact, and teaching methods and solutions shared with them ultimately prove useful for the students”.
“With such programs, our focus is to promote a paradigm shift in the education, i.e. from teacher-centric to student-centric”,said Ms. Sanyogita Sharma, Director-MRIS and Faculty of Education, MRU. She also informed about the upcoming two-day session for the Principals and Headmistress of 100 schools adopted by FNT and Manav Rachna.
Mr. Rameshwar Yadav, one of the participants, said, “During this programme, we got an opportunity to learn the ways in which we can improve the LEPs being conducted in the schools. We shared our issues with the experts and we hope that quick and reliable solutions will be provided to the schools”.
