Students of M.Sc. Nutrition & Dietetics visited MAX Hospital
A visit to Max Hospital, Vaishali and Patparganj was organized by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics recently under the series of visits being conducted for the benefits of first year students of M.Sc. Nutrition & Dietetics. Such visits provide students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction and working methods.
These visits are conducted with an objective of providing students a functional opportunity in different sectors. The faculty member and students were guided and educated by Dr. Charu Dua, Chief Dietician of the Hospital.
Visit started with the discussion on nutritional support in Hospital and the main focus of the discussion was enteral feeding (access route, kitchen & commercial formulas, and administration). Students took a tour of kitchen and received knowledge regarding different kitchen areas, their benefits and uses. They also gathered information about bulk cooking, packaging and dispatch of food to the patients in a hygienic manner.
In Max Hospital Patparganj, students were divided into the batches of ten students each and visited the RT feed preparation area. They learnt about SOP of Laminar Air Flow, RT feed preparation by using Laminar Air Flow and different commercial formulas. Meanwhile, a nutrition quiz was also organized for the students.
Overall, it was an informative practical exposure to our students.
