Students of Civil Engineering visited Railway Yard
Department of Civil Engineering, FET, MRIIRS organized a one day visit to Railway Yard, New Delhi for M.Tech and B.Tech students to give them an insight into different aspects of Railway Engineering. Ms. Anjali Gupta (Assoc. Prof.) coordinated the visit and proceeded to the yard with Mr. Rameezut Tauheed (Assistant Prof.) along with 15 B. Tech students of 6th semester and 5 M.Tech students of 2nd semester.
Visit was organized with the prior permission of Mr. Rajwender Kumar Jha (Civil Engineer/Gen), Railway Department and under the supervision of Mr. Vijender Singh (Senior DEN/Coordination, NDLS). Students were taken to the yard by Mr. D. C. Gautam (SSE P/way-ENCL, NDLS) where he explained them different parts of Railway Track, Rails, Sleepers, Ballast, Station and Points, Crossings, Turnouts with their operations. Students also got live demonstration by Mr. R.C. Sirohi (Incharge P/way USFD Machine) on Ultrasonic Digital flaw detector used to find out defects in rails which was a new experience for students.
