State Level Debate held at NIT Kurukshetra, Haryana
A debate was organised by School of Renewable Energy and Efficiency, NIT Kurukshetra in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Government of India, Ministry of Power/ New and Renewable Energy Department, Haryana and Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA). The zonal competition was conducted on the theme: Should India completely switch to Renewable Energy?
33 teams participated in zonal competition and it was graced and judged by Dr. Renu Phulia, IAS (Director New and Renewable Energy Department and HAREDA Haryana), Padma Shri Dr. Satish Kumar (Director, NIT Kurukshetra), Co-Patrons Prof. Lillie Dewan ( Coordinator SREE and professor EED, NIT Kurukshetra), Sh. O.D. Sharma ( Project Director DNRE/ HAREDA, Sh. P.K. Nautiyal (Scientific Engineer (A), DNRE/ HAREDA) and Convenors Dr. Shelly Vadehra ( Associate Prof. EED, NIT, Kurukshetra) and Mr. Sukhchain Singh (Project Manager DNRE/ HAREDA). The teams were grouped into five zones Ambala, Faridabad, Gurugram, Karnal and Rohtak.
The students of MRIIRS: Sanchit Sood (8th semester) and Shivani Khare (6th semester) from B.Tech Biotechnology in Faridabad zone stood 1st in the zonal competition and were awarded a cash prize of 5000 INR.
The teams were then summoned for the state level debate on the topic: Energy Efficiency- Invisible Fuel. Once again the students of MRIIRS stood first, and were awarded a cash prize of 21,000 INR. The event promoted an excellent understanding of energy dynamics in India and inculcated a spirit of healthy competition among the students.
