Shabdotsav at Manav Rachna University
Manav Rachna University in collaboration with Clan Water Sharks and Clan Forest Rhinos under Literary Vertical of Manav Rachna Life Skills Programme presented ‘Shabdotsav’- Where Words have Power, on April 10, 2018. It comprised three events- Poet It Loud (Poem Recitation), Spellbound (Spell bee), and Raise Your Sale (Ad & Jingle Making).
More than 30 students participated enthusiastically in the events and showcased their skills, imagination and creativity beyond the arena of their expertise. “Poetry comes alive to me through Recitation”, a quote by Natalia Merchant proved true as the students rendered eloquent recitations of renowned poems. The students recited poems with proper pronunciation, intonation and voice modulation. In Spellbound, students participated with great gusto and combated through the toughest words to prove their mettle. Both the rounds of the Spell Bee held the audience ‘spellbound’, with almost all of the 16 participants spelling each word correctly.
The final judgment was announced by the reverent judges Ms. Gurjeet Kaur Chawla, Associate Dean Students Welfare; Clan Water Sharks Chief and Ms. Seema Sharma, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Education. Sonali of CSE, FET was declared as the winner of ‘Poet it Loud’ and the second position was grabbed by Jagbeer of CSE, FET. In ‘Spellbound’, the team comprising Ronit Chahal-BBA, MRU and Mayank-BBA, MRIIRS was announced as the winner. Aman-CSE, MRU and Ayush Singhal, CSE, MRU won the second position. Gifts were awarded to the winners to encourage them. It was a wonderful learning experience not only for the participants but also for their peers as the events enriched the vocabulary bank as well as the artistic talent of the students.
