Sh. Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurates Centre of Excellence in ADR
A Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Alternative Dispute Resolution was launched today at the Faculty of Law, Manav Rachna University by the Hon’ble Minister of Law & Justice, Communications, and Electronics & IT Sh. Ravi Shankar Prasad in the august presence of Justice R. C. Lahoti (former Chief Justice of India); Smt. Sonal Goel (IAS), HUDA Administrator; Sh. Gopal Sharma, BJP Faridabad President; Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions; Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, MREI; Sh. H K Batra, MD, Perfect Breads; Dr. I K Bhat, VC, Manav Rachna University; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD-MREI; Dr. Jose Verghese; Mr. Shashank Garg; and eminent dignitaries from the law fraternity.
In his address to aspiring law students, Sh. Ravi Shankar Prasad said: “In today’s context, Institutional arbitration is very important. And, in that respect I am very happy to inaugurate this CoE on ADR. This shall encourage, in a fast way arbitration and mediation processes”. He also appealed to the students to keep a heart of gold for the needy and provide them free legal adviceonce they become practicing lawyers”.
In his welcome address, Dr. Prashant Bhalla shared: “The justice delivery system in India has come under great stress for several reasons, one of them being the huge pendency of cases in courts underlining the need for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods. The COE in ADR at Manav Rachna shall provide students opportunities to explore issues from different perspectives.”
On this occasion, a Gold Medal for overall Excellence in Law was instituted by Hon’ble Justice R. C. Lahoti in the memory of his father Sh. R. L. Lahoti. This medal shall be given to the best performing law student who showcases exemplary academic and people skills.
The Faculty of Law is an integral part of the Manav Rachna University and is credited for taking several initiatives in the areas of teaching learning process, internships, legal aid and other outreach activities. The Faculty of Law is associated with the High Court of Punjab and Haryana in E-court Awareness campaign for last two years. It also has collaboration with National Legal Services Authority.
