Session on “Nuances of Product Management” for MBA Students
To further enhance the employability quotient and reduce the Industry-Academia gap, Faculty of Management Studies under its Countdown to Corporate Career Series organized an Expert Session conducted by Mr. Ankur Sabharwal, Director for Global Product Management-Workstation (ACS) at HP Inc. and an Industry veteran for over 20 years with various category management and market-facing roles.
Mr. Ankur began by giving a perspective on how the Industry transitioned in the last 5 years with reference to the pre and post covid era. The market trends of laptop vs smartphones were discussed in detail with relevant examples and consumer insights. He shared his own learnings from his career with the students and stressed the importance of networking, upskilling, ability to say No and constantly staying ahead of the learning curve. The key attributes along with the nuances of Product/Brand Management was discussed in great detail with Industry examples.
He encouraged the students to experiment in their careers to enable to take their learnings forward. Mr Sabharwal was of the firm opinion that early exposure to a Sales profile lays the perfect foundation for a budding manager to quickly grasp the nuances of business, markets, categories along with pricing decisions. The session ended with addressing various student queries related to company choice, career progression, hybrid working and the future of work.
