A seminar on Bioentrepreneurship – Challenges & Opportunities was organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) on 20-21st August, 2019. The seminar was convened by Dr. Joseph Davis, Professor-Biotechnology and inaugurated by Dr. Abhilasha Shourie, Professor and Head, Biotechnology Department.

In the technical session, Ms. Suman Gupta, Chief Operations Officer, Bio-Incubator at Regional Center for Biotechnology, delivered a lecture titled, ‘Essentials of bio entrepreneurship and bio-incubators’. She has elaborated the fundamentals of start-ups with examples and emphasized the active role of fresh biotechnologists to play in coming days.

The second talk was delivered by Ms. Malvika Garg, Intellectual Property Manager at BSC BioNEST Bio-Incubator (BBB), and Regional Centre for Biotechnology titled, and ‘Introduction to Intellectual Properties’. She has introduced the basics of IPR in the Indian scenario and highlighted the importance of IPR in the Biotechnology industry.
