MHRD Innovation Cell organized a webinar as a live You Tube session which was delivered by Dr. Pankaj Parashar, Founder & CEO of Cuttingedge Technology Pvt. Ltd., Indore, on the topic: Product Design and Engineering for Developing a Product, a Start-up’s perspective. 

Faculty members and Students of Manav Rachna University attended the session. The session was very insightful and informative as he discussed product design and development from an Innovator and Entrepreneur’s perspective.

Dr. Parashar started the session with the definition of an Entrepreneur as the person who organizes, manages and assumes risks of a business or enterprise and he defined technopreneurship as technology-based entrepreneurship.

He mentioned the list of successful talented entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Donald Trump, Paytm and Flipkart founders, etc.

He said products are outcomes of sustained continuous events of iterations in an item or a service being offered. It is the face of the company offering it. The design of a product is the drawing produced to show its look and functionalities before the product is made. Aspects of design are interaction design (for user interaction), information architecture, visual design, and usability testing which is to be done with end-user/customer to collect feedback for design improvement.

At a high level of the three coupled components of the design is form, function, and human. Industrial design lies at the intersection of form and function, communication lies at the intersection of form and human and Design Thinking resides in the intersection of function and human.

He explained very well with lots of examples to make the audience understand the factors which need to be considered for product design as utility, peculiarity, distinguishing feature, ergonomics, a unique selling point.

Dr. Parashar made the whole session very interesting and motivational for young students who want to be an innovator and entrepreneur in the future.
