Proceedings of PFFL on Nature Inspired Algorithms for Optimization
Keeping up the momentum of Peer Forum for Faculty Learning (PFFL) in Faculy of Computer Application (FCA), a presentation was given by Ms. Poonam Chaudhary (Assistant Professor) on the topic ‘Nature Inspired Algorithms for Optimization’. Throwing light on this topic, she discussed about the introduction of Nature Inspired Algorithms and types of algorithms. Thereafter, Ms Poonam went into the details of the applications of Nature Inspired Algorithms which are designed to optimize numerical benchmark functions, multi objective functions and solve NP-hard problems for large number of variables, dimensions, etc. NIA are mainly categorized into evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence based algorithms.
She had also discussed about the minimum and maximum dimensions over which Nature Inspired Algorithms have been evaluated along with the list of automated tools available for these algorithms. Nature Inspired Algorithms are motivated from natural ecosystem and simulate the behavior of natural living and non living things. She highlighted the important features of these algorithms in terms of their input parameters, evolutionary mechanism and applications.
The session was quite interactive and highly appreciated among the peer group. While the session was to be over, all faculty members were asked to fill the feedback forms along with feed forward forms of the presentation. Each and every member of the peer group has shown his/her full enthusiasm in order to carry forward the legacy of many more activities like this in the forthcoming days for knowledge upgradation.
