Dr O P Bhalla Foundation organizes Free Health Camps
- A series of 10 free health checkup camps will be organized from March 2019 till May 2019.
- Healthcare providers from Manav Rachna Dental College, Department of Physiotherapy, Department of Nutrition & Dietetics and Department of Psychology of Manav Rachna will provide support and assistance to those who are in need.
In memory of our beloved founder Dr. O P Bhalla, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions unite to promote his dream of serving the community by organizing free health & welfare camps in various communities of Faridabad every year. This tradition under the aegis of Dr. O P Bhalla foundation continues this year with our health & welfare provider teams and students.
A series of 10 camps will be organized from March till May 2019 on various locations to provide the best of facilities to people in various communities.
Under the same initiative the first camp was held at Muskan NGO in DeraGaon on March 2, 2019.
The event started with a medical checkup. The team of expert professionals from Manav Rachna kindly volunteered to contribute towards achieving measurement of blood pressure, height, weight and BMI. Our expert dentists provided Oral Prophylaxis to 10, restorations to 6, extractions to 1, oral health education and medicines to all 15 patients. Under 2019 Annual Mental Health Camp “Sparsh” the students of Applied Psychology, were involved in assessment and interviewing of elderly individuals who were a part of the NGO.
Another health camp was organized at Anangpur Village on March 7, 2019. A total of 75 people were treated & advised by the respected team of physiotherapists and 35 people were provided nutritional counseling, our expert dentists provided Oral Prophylaxis to 15, restorations to 7, extractions to 4; oral health education, and medicines. In all, 40 patients were counseled and treated. Dental checkup and psychological counseling was also given to the patients.
The third health camp was organized on March 28, 2019 at The Earth Saviours Foundation, Bandhwadi.
The Earth Saviour Foundation is basically a mental asylum cum old age home, providing food, shelter and other facilities to those who are homeless. A total of 60 people including adults, old aged and individuals with intellectual deficits were counselled. The physiotherapy services provided to them included blood pressure measurement, strength and conditioning, balance training, deformity management and exercises for general health and well-being.
The faculty member and students of Nutrition and Dietetics department provided nutrition counseling and assessment services at the camp to people suffering from various nutritional disorders. Most of them were suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity, Protein Energy Malnutrition, etc. The patients were assessed for their height, weight and BMI as an indicator for the health problems. Thereafter, they were counselled for the required lifestyle and dietary changes to be incorporated to control the future health consequences.
The students did a comprehensive psychological assessment where the mental status and mental health of the elderly individuals were checked under the Annual Mental Health Camp Sparsh. Detailed evaluations were carried out by the students by way of interviewing and conversations where the individual’s psychological health and wellbeing was sought to be understood. The individuals at the NGO were suffering from serious mental disorders and the students did structured and need based assessments in order to understand thoroughly the severity of the disorder and provide appropriate guidance to them.
