Ph.D. Orientation Program 2018-19 to welcome Ph.D. Scholars
Council for Doctoral Program (CDP) organized Ph.D. Orientation 2018-19 to welcome 115 Ph.D. scholars of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS, Formerly MRIU). Prof. G.P. Thakur, Retired Professor, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh was the Chief Guest for the day. Invoking the blessings of God Almighty, a Hawan ceremony was performed in the presence of Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI), Dr. M.M. Kathuria, Trustee, MREI; Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, VC, MRIIRS; Dr. R.K. Arora, Registrar, MRIIRS; Dr. Naresh Grover, Dean-Academics, MRIIRS; and Prof. G.P. Thakur.
Dr. Naresh Grover informed the scholars about the program structure, coursework, process of submission of thesis, Shodh Gangotri, and finalizing the topic to pursue effective research.
(Prof.) Dr. N.K. Chadha, Chairperson, CDP welcomed the scholars and emphasized them to attend all the seminars and classes in order to stay updated with the process. ‘Quality should not be compromised in the research paper’, he said. Filing a patent, plagiarism check, and quality publications were also discussed.
‘During Ph.D., you are trained on how to conduct a research in scientific manner’, Prof. G.P. Thakur said. He added that when you follow your own method of investigation, then there are no chances for plagiarism to arise. He informed three ways to do research- 1. Do something original; 2- Interpretation of old facts in a new manner; 3- Scholar should be regular. He ended by saying, “Choose a topic of your interest and then, you will love to do it”.
Welcoming the Ph.D. scholars, Dr. N.C. Wadhwa apprised the scholars of educational scenario in and outside India. He said that a scholar should think of bright ideas and should keep on thinking.
Scholars were also given visiting cards with their name and details, and a personal email address has also been provided to them.
