Orientation Program for Principals of Govt. Schools across Haryana by MREI, KED and NSDC
To make vocational education more effective, Kunskapsskolan Education Sweden (KED) and Manav Rachna Educational Institutions have been working closely with NSDC to implement the unique KED program after necessary adaptation in State Government run schools in India. A pilot project across 100 Government Schools across Haryana was launched in September 2017.
As a next step, an orientation program for the Principals of these 100 government schools was organized jointly by KED, MREI and NSDC at the Manav Rachna campus on April 1. Along with this, a five-day training program was also conducted for the teachers of these Govt. Schools to make aware them about the methodology and tools used to provide vocational training.
The orientation program was conducted in the presence of Sh. Rajiv Mathur, Sr. Advisor-Skill Advisory, NSDC; Sh. K.K. Agnihotri, Honorary Advisor to Education Department, School Division, Haryana; Dr. V S Mehrotra, Jt. Director, PSS-CIVE; Ms. Annu Wadhwa, CEO- Beauty & Wellness, Sector Skills Council; Mr. Basab Banerjee, Skilling Expert; Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI; Ms. Sunitha Nambiar, CEO, Kunskapsskolan India; Ms. Sabreena Talwar, Principal, Kunskapsskolan Gurugram; and Ms. Ritu Gupta, Director-Portal Management, KED.
Mr. Rajiv Mathur informed that KEDMAN is a pilot project with 5,000+ students which would be a game changer for the lives of many students. Sh. K K Agnihotri informed about the salient features of this project which include digitalized content, online transaction of curriculum, laptops, and internet connectivity.
“Vocational training makes students demand driven rather than supply driven”, said Dr. V S Mehrotra. He also said that with this project, we are promoting both ‘Learning for work’ and ‘Learning from work’. The experts talked at length across various vocational programs.
An Experience Corner was created, especially for the teachers to get hands-on training on the various elements of the learning tool.
