The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, organized AICTE sponsored Online one week Short Term Training Programme(STTP) on Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning, from August 24 to 29, 2020, in the online mode.

On Day 2, the session on “Machine learning and Metrics for Data Analytics” was delivered by Prof. C.P Gupta from Rajasthan Technical University Jaipur. He introduced the participants to the concepts and principles of machine learning. He also explained different performance metrics for different machine learning algorithms. The session was very interactive and useful for research work.

The next session on “Data Handling and Data Visualization using Python” was conducted by Dr V. Ajanta Devi, Research Head, AP3 Solutions. She introduced the participants with different concepts of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and Deep Learning techniques. She explained supervised and unsupervised learning techniques. She also provided insights into practical implementation using different datasets. The audience gained a lot in different aspects of machine learning.

The NEXT session was hands-on “Supervised Learning” by Mr Nitish, from ICT Academy explained different concepts on datasets, supervised and unsupervised learning. He explained supervised learning techniques using K-Nearest Neighbours with real-time examples. The session was based on practical aspects of the application of ML.

On Day 3, the session on “Natural Language Processing and AI Application” was delivered by Prof. Kamlesh Dutta, NIT Hamirpur. She introduced the participants to the concepts Language translation, Generation, anaphora & Pragmatic Knowledge. She also explained deep learning-based anaphora resolution approaches and also discussed the NLP limitations.

The session on “Neural network techniques for Pattern recognition” was conducted by Dr. Manu Pratap Singh from Dr B. R. Ambedkar University, Agra. He discussed the concepts of soft computing tools for Machine learning and its advantage to solve real-world problems.  The audience gained a lot in different aspects of pattern recognition.

The NEXT session was hands-on “Unsupervised Learning” by Mr Nitish, FROM ICT Academy explained different concepts on datasets with respect to unsupervised learning using python. The hands-on session on Unsupervised learning using python was highly informative with practical exposure.

On Day 4, the first and 2nd session on Using Transformer networks for language generation was conducted by Mr Rahul Verma, Senior Manager, Genpact, Gurgaon. He explained Python-based ecosystem installation and coaching of BERT and GPT2 models”. He introduced the participants to the concepts Intelligence, Sequence to Sequence Models, RNN, LSTM models. He also explained Open AI, Google Colab, Tensorflow, Hugging Face, and PyTorch technologies. He explained some of the codified examples & was truly passionate about what he does 

The session on “Recent Trends in Deep Learning methods and Applications was conducted by Dr. CSR Prabhu, Former Director General, NIC, Ministry of Electronics & IT, New Delhi. He discussed the concepts of FOG Computing, Deep Learning, Big Data Analytics. He also discussed current trends in communication. The participants gained a lot on different aspects of fog computing, machine learning, deep learning He also discussed Kafka framework for creating data lakes for stream data.

On Day 5, the first session on “Case Study on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare with Hands-on Covid-19” was delivered by Dr Anand Nayaar, Graduate School, Duy Tan University. He introduced the participants to the concepts used in the Medical field using the Internet of things. He emphasized the role of AI, Edge computing and 5G technology that is transforming the medical field and its applications. The audience gained a lot from this session and acknowledged by participants.

The next session “Case Study on Machine Learning for medical data analysis” was conducted by Dr S. Balamurugan, Director-Research and Development, Intelligent Research Consultancy Services(iRCS), Coimbatore. He introduced the audience to different concepts in the medical data analysis, technical aspects and outlook on the shared data. He also shared the future research directions with the participants. The participants gained insights from the knowledge shared by the speaker.

The last session on “Case Study Applications and Trend of AI/ML in Management was delivered by Dr Anil Kumar, Associate Professor of Operations, supply chain and business analytics, Metropolitan University, London. He emphasized the importance of AI, Machine learning analytics, drivers of sustainability and AI/ML analytics. He also laid stress on cross-domain research and hybrid research. He explained the integration of machine learning in different fields such as management, education with the help of a case study. The session was informative and gave lots of insights for working in the direction of research.

On Day 6,  of the STTP, the valedictory session began in the presence of Prof (Dr.) Supriya P. Panda, Head, Dept. of CSE, FET, MRIIRS, and Prof (Dr.) Suresh Kumar, CSE, FET, MRIIRS (Chair of Event), Dr Poonam Tanwar, Associate Professor, CSE, FET, MRIIRS (Event Coordinator), Dr Shelja Sharma, Assistant Professor, CSE, FET, MRIIRS (Event Co-coordinator), Ms Shweta Sharma, Assistant Professor, CSE, FET, MRIIRS (Event  Co-coordinator).

Dr Shelja Sharma welcomed the Dignitaries and all the participants present in the event. The valedictory session continued with a brief report shared by Dr Poonam Tanwar for all the sessions conducted in the one-week training programme. Dr. Suresh Kumar addressed the attendees, highlighting the usefulness & insights gained from this training programme. He also emphasized the importance of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning in the field of research.
