NDTV’s Workshop on ‘Breaking News for TV & News Websites’
A Workshop was conducted by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication under the series of Workshops being conducted for the students of BA-JMC and MA-JMC, wherein the stalwarts of NDTV News Channel described and shared their know-how and techniques. The subject of today’s Workshop was on ‘Operations and Editing’.
Mr. Sanjay Ahirwal, Managing Editor along with Mr. Kumar Raajesh and Ms. Janaki Fernandes of NDTV 24X7 were the eminent speakers of the Workshop. Mr. Kumar started his career in Broadcast Journalism 25 years ago with Newstrack. He has worked in different key positions as Anchor, Reporter, Editor, Managing Editor, etc. with Aaj Tak, India TV and many regional channels. Ms. Janaki Fernandes is a Senior Consultant, Content Strategist of NDTV Worldwide. Ms Janaki started her career with Mid Day in Mumbai, before joining NDTV. She has just returned from Kuala Lumpur having helped Astro Awani News Channel in Malaysia to establish its website.
Mr. Raajesh is a specialist; having good years of experience in Breaking News for TV. He explained the various techniques of breaking News. Ms. Janaki explained the various tricks of Breaking News for News Websites. The Workshop was highly informative and interactive. They also showed some interesting visuals to make the classroom transaction more interesting. It was both interactive and informative.
The aspects discussed during the workshop included Breaking News: Concept and Importance; Breaking News for TV; Breaking News for News Websites; Selection of News and Use of Websites.
The Workshop was well appreciated by the students and they were given hands on practical exposure in the FMeH studio as well as in the class room by the resource persons too.
