National Level Lecture and Hands-on workshop on “TADS-Amplifying Orthodontic Anchorage”
The
Department of Orthodontics, MRDC, FDS conducted a National Level
Lecture and Hands-on workshop on “TADS-Amplifying Orthodontic Anchorage”
by Internationally renowned speaker Dr Abhishek Ghosh from Kolkata
recently. Dr. Digant Thakkar from Rajkot was the speaker to discuss the
digital advancements and recent technique of MARPE. Around 60 delegates
including both postgraduates and clinicians from India and overseas
participated in the workshop.
Dr. Abhishek Ghosh
introduced the concept of TADS and how they are relevant in everyday
clinical practice. He explained in detail about the challenging and
complex case selection for the use and placement of TADS and how we can
handle this during treatment planning. Dr Abhishek further elucidated
the use of TADS in the correction of vertical discrepancies and also for
mini-implant assisted rapid palatal expansion.
Dr Digant
Thakkar used a series of videos and case presentations to showcase the
use of digital dentistry in the fabrication of orthodontic appliances.
One of his most recent technique- mini-implant assisted rapid palatal
expansion technique- developed using CAD/CAM and laser printing was
shown and discussed with all the delegates.
Lectures of
Day 1 resumed with the detailed descriptions of the use of
infrazygomatic and buccal shelf implants. A brief introduction to
Orthosystems by Mr. Aditya Naik and Mr. Bholu Sharma was undertaken to
make the delegates aware of their state-of-the-art orthodontic
instruments followed by the hands-on workshop. The participants were
first instructed and guided on the usage and accurate placement of TADS
on the models provided to them. This was followed by the live
demonstration. Placement of TADS such as the infrazygomatic, buccal
shelf screws, sub-apical, interradicular etc in the orthodontic patients
of the department was undertaken and displayed to the delegates via a
live feed wherein they could ask any questions regarding the procedure
with Dr Abhishek.
An interactive question-answer session
for the participants was held wherein all the doubts pertaining to the
lectures were extensively discussed. The participation certificates were
given to the participants. Dr. Sridhar proposed the Vote of Thanks.
