National Environment Youth Parliament 2022 organized at Manav Rachna on the occasion of National Youth Day 2022
On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Ji’s Birth Anniversary- National Youth Day 2022, Paryavaran Sanrakshan Gatividhi in collaboration with Universities across India organized National Environment Youth Parliament (NEYP) 2022. This year, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies was nominated as the National Host University. The finale of NEYP was conducted at the University in Online Mode today.
This intervention paved a way for about 40 students from Manav Rachna to be a part of this finale.
Dr. N. C. Wadhwa, retd IAS, Director- General, MREI shared his valuable thoughts to inspire the students and teachers alike. He also urged the student community to be more vigilant towards the environment, and shared how youth can sensitize the situation and work towards the goals set by the United Nations for Environment Conservation.
Dr. Pooja Khurana, Member, Managing Team NEYP 2022, MRIIRS presented the report on NEYP 2022 and shared the code of conduct of the finale with the students.
The competition hosted an esteemed panel of external jury consisting of Mr. Samarth Khanna, a naturalist, ecologist, wildlife educator, and an ecological gardener; Mr. Rohit Chawla, Founder of ZReO.in and ‘WE the Wonder Explorers’; Mr. Ramveer Tanwar, Founder of Say Earth, a non-governmental organization alongside being a TEDx Speaker and Ms. Pooja Gupta, Master Trainer Ward 31 and Swach Banega Faridabad.
During the discussion, participating students talked about the causes of air pollution and the steps to be taken by the government, and citizens to curb the situation from worsening. Adding to this, numerous solutions and recommendations emerged through the discussion.
A total of 31 students were a part of the finale and 12 students are shortlisted in this round as winners, who will be partaking in the Regional Level at Kurukshetra University.
