Department of Civil Engineering, FET MRIIRS recently hosted a one-day excursion to New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan for the 7th Smart Cities India expo. The Expo was attended by a group of 58 undergraduate and graduate students from the Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Departments, as well as Dr. Anjali Gupta (Professor-Civil), Mr. Aftab Alam (Assistant Professor- Civil), and Mr. Arun Kumar (Lab Technician-ECE). A day before the visit, online registration was completed.
The Expo featured 575+ companies from around the world, focusing on critical areas such as IoT, Integrated Command Control Centres (ICCCs), e-Government, Communication systems, Data storage and management, Innovative urban planning practises, Green buildings, Solar energy, Logistics, Clean Environment, and Water, among others. Representatives from numerous government institutions, as well as major and emerging firms, who are working to make Indian cities smarter and more sustainable, presented their schemes and products.
Students had intensive interaction with company/ Govt Organization representatives for more than 4 hours which generated tremendous enthusiasm and interest. Many companies offer their services to the department for any technical assistance in the future.
The students were impressed by the schemes, innovative products, and services offered and their potential applications in building a city digital and intelligent. They were delighted to learn about the global viewpoint on sustainable, intelligent cities and their development plans.
This event fosters the link between industry and users as well as academia.
