MRIIRS students attended National Nutrition Conclave 2019
National Nutrition Conclave 2019 was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) recently at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi. Final year students of M.Sc Nutrition & Dietetics along with faculty members: Ms. Vandana Garg & Ms. Ankita Sharma attended the event. The objective of the conclave was to improve the ecosystem for better nutrition. The event started with a panel discussion on aligned implementation of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive initiatives.
The eminent speakers from Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Jal Shakti and Regional Coordinator, Iodine Global Network (South Asia) addressed the session. This was followed by the launch of online compendium for making collaboration, information and partnership with various governing agencies to tackle the problem of malnutrition. All the sessions were based on ensuring safe and wholesome food for human consumption. To transform India’s food safety and nutrition landscape by ensuring availability and consumption of safe food and healthy diets. The discussion was also based on availability and consumption of safe and clean drinking water. All the sessions were based on multi-sectoral approach as food safety is a shared responsibility. The three focus areas concentrate on empowering all stakeholders by:
a) Building capacity of food business operators
b) Propelling citizens to make informed choices through social and behavioral change communication
c) Creating an enabling environment towards sustainability through institutional mechanism
In the end, Mr Pawan Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer of FSSAI launched ‘Eat Right India’ online store. Under this, all the products will have eat right messages to create awareness.
