MREI’s Team Cool Runnings will represent India in Japan with their Formula 1 Racing Car Magnum!
Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking is ingrained into the very DNA of Manav Rachna’s students. It is this distinctive trait that was largely reflected in the innovative Formula 1 Racing Car that was put together by the students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology students of Manav Rachna International University, and what’s more, they will be representing India in Japan. The students of Team Cool Runnings is all set to participate at the Students Formula Japan (SFJ) from September 6-12, 2016 with their Formula 1 Racing Car Magnum in two categories.
The buoyant Team Cool Runnings was flagged off from the Campus on Saturday for which a programme had been specially organized. Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI, offered his best wishes to the Team as he flagged them off from the Campus. Also present on the occasion were Dr N.C. Wadhwa, VC, MRIU; Dr Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI and VC, MRU, among others. Magnum Racing car has been made under the mentorship of Mr. Abhishek Chauhan, Deputy Director, MRIIC.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI, said, “We at MREI do not just equip our students for academics, but inspire them to break new grounds and incubate new ideas and ventures. The Formula 1 Racing car with its all new features is an expression of our students’ amazing creativity and talent. On behalf of the entire Manav Rachna Family, I wish them ‘best of luck’ so that they perform exceedingly well with their enthusiasm in full flow!”
The Brains Behind the Cars
The Captain of Team Cool Runnings Ankush Sarkar said that to participate in the Competition, as many as 7 reports were submitted with details pertaining to cost, design, logic and the like. And not just that, the Formula 1Racing car has been designed as per FSAE regulations. The Team qualified for the Competition after successfully fulfilling all the criteria.
Exclusive Elements of ‘Magnum
Designer of Team Cool Runnings Devanshu and Vice Captain Lakshya informed that Magnum is high on exclusivity. This is a 200 kilo light weight car. A Tata Nano engine of 624 cc converted into a 602.8cc engine has been installed inside the specially designed car. All the safety issues have been taken into consideration during the designing of the Single Body car which has an on board diagnostic tool and a speed of over 160km/hour. The vehicle is also equipped with a detachable battery and a removable fuel tank as a precaution against accidents and emergencies of any kind.
