More than 25K students croon on the beats of ‘Farhan Live’ at Manav Rachna
More than 25,000 students thronged the campus of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) for the third successive edition of its three-day annual fest, Resurrection2K17.
The sheer number of people almost brought that part of the city to a standstill, and reached its grand culmination with the Bollywood Night as Farhan Akhtar with his band took the stage leaving the audience in raptures! There he was … crooning his favourite numbers ‘Socha Hai’, ‘Hawan Karenge’, ‘Rock On’ to name just a few, which threw the crowd into a frenzy of wild emotions. Amidst the electrifying performances, Farhan had a message for all the students and talked about his initiative ‘MARD’ – Men against Rape & Discrimination. This was also Farhan’s debut performance in Faridabad!
The three day carnival extravaganza was packed with competitions and performances from teams and individuals from across the city. The fest, one of the biggest in Haryana, being held from October 12- 14, began with a grand inauguration ceremony where Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI declared the event open.
The inauguration itself was beautiful rendition of the Saraswati Vandana by Rhythm, MREI’s Music Society and a spectacular ‘Tandav’ performed by the students of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Performing Arts after which students from ‘Mridaksh’, MREI’s dance society performed a fusion dance, combining some of the best moves from Classical, Haryanvi and an energetic Bhangra dance forms — indeed, just the apt glimpse of what to expect from the three days ahead.
