MHRD Innovation Cell organized a webinar on 13th May, 2020 and the Leadership Talk was delivered by Prof. Sanjay Inamdar, Chairman, AICTE Startup Policy Implementation Committee and Entrepreneur on the topic: “Innovating Self-Screen and Identify Right Opportunities”. Faculty members and Students of Manav Rachna University attended the session.
Prof. Inamder is an entrepreneur. He is the founder of 22-year old company titled “Star Export House”, he created employment for many and brought foreign currency to our country. For last 12 years, he is working on students’ startups across India and teaching the students as entrepreneur and as an engineer. His talk was based on his experiential learning for so many years at different places across the globe and learning from different people he came across. His objective was to make students understand how to screen a situation and identify the challenges and opportunities and role of Higher Educational Institutions and faculties in helping students to innovate.
Prof. Inamdar gave the following 3-point agenda items to students to implement which will help them to shape their life : (i) What is the scenario today and how a student (engineering/management etc.) should create a place in it, (ii) The above scenario will definitely change and what skill set is required to survive in changed scenario – what are the challenges and what are the great opportunities which the challenges bring in with that scenario and finally (iii) Having understood the scenario and challenges how one should acquire skills to handle it. He said global companies (Fortune 500 ones like GE, Apple etc) are coming to India soon to create their footprints here and talking to Govt. of India regarding it and so is our Prime Minister’s slogan of “Make in India”. So the Indian engineers and professionals will be able to create value chain for critical product and services like pharma, auto, food, service industry etc. These companies will expect new recruits from India to speed up in picking up work in their assigned roles. There had been lot of effort going on towards bridging the gap between industry and academia. According to Prof. Inamder, there are Uber jobs and clusters of Uber engineers/chartered engineers will be able to offer services to these companies- it will be self-employment type. It will require skill improvement– so today’s students need to innovate self and do upskilling. These Uber jobs will have a lot of expectations.
