Meeting of the Advisory Board
The eight meeting of the Advisory Board to the Faculty of Law (FoL) was held on 17 October 2020. This meeting was conducted in online mode and was chaired by Justice RC Lahoti (Former Chief Justice of India). In addition to the Advisory Board members, the meeting was attended by all key management personnel from MREI and MRU.
As per normal protocol, the meeting began with Mr Ajay Thomas (Director, Faculty of Law) presenting a brief activity report aided by PowerPoint slides with visuals of the various online initiatives undertaken by FoL during the past few months. This included details of the various webinars organised, which included a series that was jointly hosted with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
Ms Chaitali Wadhwa (Faculty In-charge of the Moot Court Society) updated the Board about the progress made with the organisation of the first national online moot court competition to be hosted by FoL, the oral rounds for which are scheduled to be held in mid-December.
The Board was also informed about the establishment of the Centre for Legislative Studies and Research (CLSR) and the Centre’s Executive Chairperson Mr PK Malhotra (former Union Law Secretary) made a presentation on the vision, mission and proposed activities of CLSR.
The meeting ended with the customary vote of thanks by Dr Versha Vahini (Head of Department) who expressed the hope, that all going well, the next meeting of the Board would be in-person rather than in online mode.
