Mechanical Engineering team of Manav Rachna International University at FIA
Three teams of Mechanical engineering department participated in a competition at FIA. The activities comprised of 10-15 minutes presentation followed by physical assessment of the project by the judges. Questions and answers were exchanged during both the sessions of presentation and physical demonstration.
- Hydrogen based cutting and welding setup
In this project the use of hydrogen fuel cell for welding and cutting operations was demonstrated. Most of the welding is done either by the gas or by electricity directly. This project shows the use of an electrolysis process in which water splits into hydrogen and oxygen and is further used as a flame for welding.
- Design and fabrication of cross bike
The whole concept behind this idea of cross bike was to make bicycle riding more fitness oriented and joyful. It is an equipment that combines the best of running, cycling and elliptical trainer to give you a fun and effective way to exercise outdoors. A cross bike is a combination of a light- weight elliptical on wheels with bicycle handlebars and modifications to better emulate the running motion as compared to an elliptical trainer.
- Design and development of pneumatic rotating indexing drilling machine:
This SPM performs a series of fundamental drilling and indexing operations at a single station in each stroke to develop the required workpiece.
The project gives a brief description about the work accomplished including the explored application in CATIA V5. The aim is to reduce cost of the SPM without compromising on the quality of the output. Using the optimum resources possible in designing the SPM can effect the reduction in cost of hydro-pneumatic drill operation.
The supervisors of the projects were Mr.Ddinesh Chawla, Mr. Shailesh Singh Sengar and Mr. Nintin Waghmare respectively. Mr. S.K. Bhatnagar also accompanied the teams. The whole presentation and physical model demonstration went very well and was appreciated by the FIA expert team. The Result declaration and award ceremony will be conducted on 6th May, 2017.
