National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a joint initiative of the seven IITs and IISc provides e-learning through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management and Humanities. Manav Rachna University (MRU) is a NPTEL Local Chapter and has incorporated MOOCs in the academic delivery producing a new way of teaching and learning by combining innovative learning and teaching techniques.

MRU offers B.Tech/M.Tech course material through MOOCs platform, i.e. Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) that has been initiated to provide the best teaching-learning resources to all. SWAYAM hosts courses in four quadrants which comprise video lectures, reading material (that can be downloaded and printed), self-assessment tests, and an online discussion forum for students to clear their doubts.

With this paradigm shift in the Indian education system, MOOCs enriches the learning experience by using audio-video and state of the art pedagogy. These online courses enhance learning among students by providing an in-depth understanding of particular subjects, and assessing their progress by assignments every week. After the successful completion of the course, scholarship and certificate with grades are provided to the students.
