Manav Rachna Sixth Public Lecture on ‘Cancer, Is It Lethal!!’
Department of Computer Science & Technology, Manav Rachna University organized Sixth Public Lecture on ‘Cancer, Is It Lethal!!’ today. Dr. Sumant Gupta, Senior Consultant, Medical Oncology, Sarvodaya Hospital & Research Centre, and Dr. Shivam Vatsal, Consultant, Surgical Oncology, Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad, Delhi NCR were the speakers for the day.
Dr. Sumant Gupta began his talk by motivating the audience to devote 30 minutes a day to exercise which can lower down the chances of any malignancy. He said, “Obese children have more chances of developing cancer”. ‘Balance Your Life’ was his message to everyone. He also said that Cancer is lethal when it happens but it is not lethal when it can be prevented. He shared the mantra of staying away from cancer- Self-awareness, Healthy Lifestyle, No Alcohol/Tobacco, and Continual Process of Health check-ups. Reheating of the food and storing it for longer time were considered harmful. Ayurvedic medicine was discussed as an alternative medicine for cancer.
Dr. Shivam Vatsal discussed the four stages of cancer and said that awareness is necessary. He asked the audience to first consult the family doctor before heading to another one. Cervical Cancer, its prevention, and its vaccination were also discussed.
The lecture apprised everyone with the basic knowledge of cancer and methods to prevent it that are applicable in daily life.
