Manav Rachna Educational Institutions bow with gratitude and deep respect for the people who make the city and the nation safe. Prof (Dr.) Naresh Sharma from Manav Rachna Dental College (MRDC) recently visited the world’s highest and coldest battlefield: the Siachen Glacier where he handed over the Manav Rachna flag to the Commandant of the HQ Siachen Brigade.
Dr. Naresh Sharma, brother of Martyr Captain Shashikant Sharma went to the Siachen Glacier braving several adversities for the wreath laying ceremony of his brother. The visit was made with the special permission of General Bipin Rawat (PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC), Chief of the Indian Army.
During this visit, Dr. Naresh Sharma presented the Manav Rachna flag to the Commandant of the Siachen Brigade. The flag shall be placed in the Head Quarter of Siachen Brigade.
It is noteworthy that Capt Shashikant Sharma was given the gallantry award, “Sena Medal” for his valour, devotion to duty and supreme sacrifice to the nation while he was posted at the Siachen Glacier during October 1998.
Manav Rachna pledges to enlighten the nation with the glow and sacrifices of our armed forces.
