Manav Rachna Educational Institutions begins a whole new chapter in Olympic education with the Grand Opening of Manav Rachna Sports Science Centre and the inauguration of Indo Japanese Conclave III
The day witnessed Sh. Injeti Srinivas, Secretary (Sports), Govt. of India, Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI) as the Chief Guest while Dr Hisashi Sanada, Chairman, Tsukuba Institute of Japan was the Guest of Honour.
The Conclave is being held in association with University of Tsukuba, Japan.
February 13, 2017: Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) has always espoused a sports-centric philosophy carrying forward the legacy of Visionary Founder Dr O.P. Bhalla. With the Grand Opening of the Manav Rachna Sports Science Centre at its campus on 13th February, 2017 and the inauguration of Indo-Japanese Conclave-III which is being held from 13-14th February, 2017 in association with University of Tsukuba, Japan, Manav Rachna raised the bar of sporting excellence and glory, even as it showcased its commitment towards promoting Olympic education in the country. The occasion witnessed Sh. Injeti Srinivas, Secretary (Sports), Govt of India, Director General, Sports Authority of India (SAI) as the Chief Guest on the august occasion. Smt Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI showered her blessings at the launch of the Sports Science Centre while Dr Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI, presided over the landmark event to motivate the gathering. Also present on the occasion were Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI; Dr Hisashi Sanada, Chairman, Tsukuba Institute of Japan as Guest of Honour; Dr M.M. Kathuria, Trustee, MREI; Dr Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI; Dr N.C. Wadhwa, VC, MRIU, Dr G.L. Khanna, Dean, FAS, MRIU, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Injeti Srinivas said, “Heartiest congratulations to Manav Rachna International University for taking on the mantle of promoting Olympism through Indo Japanese Conclave III and supporting elite athletes with a view to enhancing India’s sporting performance and yield of medals at the Olympic level. By collaborating with Tsukuba University for this endeavour and launching the Sports Science Centre, they are making a positive contribution towards the development of sports sciences in the country.”
Incidentally, the Manav Rachna Sports Science Centre is equipped with the latest in infrastructure such as Isoshift (for resistance training), Isolift (for posture analysis), Postural Bench MF (for checking spinal posture) Walker View (for gait analysis) and the like.
Through his words of wisdom, Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI, said, “We are committed to help talented athletes in optimising their performance through utilization of science, performance testing and monitoring, applied research and education at the Manav Rachna Sports Science Centre. This endeavour is dedicated to the dream our Hon’ble Prime Minister calling for the need for more medals in the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics. We hope to increase world peace through sports training and education with the Indo-Japanese Conclave which will help blend sports, culture and education through two days of brainstorming and deliberations.”
Speaking at the Conclave, Dr Hisashi Sanada, Chairman, Tsukuba Institute of Japan, said, “Olympism which is the theme of the Conclave, is more a way of life and by using sports as a vehicle will help bring about a balanced education for the body and mind. It would achieve this by inculcating the values of the sporting spirit at the highest level. The Conclave will undoubtedly pave the way for a more peaceful world.”
It is noteworthy that the Conclave which is the Third in the series, and themed on–‘Olympism for Humanity Restoration Enterprise: Academic Legacy Goals, Scope, and Foundations – Towards Tokyo 2020’ is looking at various key areas in sports science like Olympic Education, Physical Education and Sports Science, Anti Doping & Sports Science, Coaching Science, Sports Nutrition and Training.
Eminent professionals of Olympic education, physical education and sports sciences from India and Japan are there on one platform to exchange thoughts, share new ideas and concepts.
