July 23, 2021: Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) co-hosted the Delhi NCR chapter of QS RISE (Redefining Institutional Strategy for Excellence) conference being organized by QS I-Gauge across the country.
QS IGAUGE is a brand incorporated in India as an independent private-sector initiative specialised in rating colleges, universities, and schools. It brings together the global expertise, experience, and reputation of UK-based (QS) Quacquarelli Symonds, along with deep local knowledge of luminaries from Indian education. In this exclusive state-level conference, speakers from five countries – India, Turkey, New Zealand, Australia and Malaysia joined as speakers.
Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI set the context for the conference and shared that the Delhi NCR region has some of the best institutions, making it the hub towards achieving the vision of the National Education Policy. “NEP aims to promote India as a knowledge hub, attracting foreign student and to promote research collaboration and student exchanges between Indian institutions and global institutions through organized efforts. In that aspect, conferences like RISE are even more important bringing together global education leaders on one platform to share and deliberate upon international best practices”, he added.
Reminiscing over the leap that the education sector took during covid times, Dr. Anand Mohan Sharan, (IAS), Principal Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, Government of Haryana shared, “When we talk of challenges in educational approaches and pedagogy, it becomes important to take into account the multiple stakeholders involved in the realm of education, the topmost being- the teachers, the students, and the industry professionals. These three define the very essence of education. It is obvious that there were immense challenges involved while shifting the classroom from the physical setup to the virtual setup, but these challenges were slowly paved by the sheer dedication of teachers and students and also by adopting varied innovative techniques that made learning not only informative but also fun. Digitization of education was important and that is where the quick action of our stakeholders became important”.
Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE who was the keynote speaker on the occasion said: “Excellence is the hallmark of quality education. In India, teachers have been at the fulcrum of growth. During the pandemic, at the AICTE learning academy, we empowered our faculty with lot of courses in emerging areas –training 1.6 lakh teachers!”
These were followed by panel discussions with global academic leaders on ‘Measuring learning outcomes in online education’; ‘Best Practices in leveraging international collaborations’ and a debate on whether online education is a boon or bane for higher education.
