The live session of Leadership talk by Mr. R Subramanyam, Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment was conducted on 6th June, 2020. Faculty members and Students of Manav Rachna University attended the session. The session was very insightful and motivational for young students.
Mr. Subramanyam said, “Youth-led initiative has brought quantum jump in social and economic growth all across the globe. In India, youth should come forward to set the economy right in post-Covid scenario. Youth community can identify the households in their neighborhood to implement the concept of self-help by ensuring that all households of economically weaker section of the society send their children to school, get them enrolled in Ayushman Bharat, look into the misery of poorest people and act on it. In addition to focus on academics, placement, career etc, students should devote time to work for society and act on misery of poor people.’
He also said that if someone faces adversity, then only innovation happens to overcome it. So in adverse situation, one should have a challenging attitude and that should translate to drive the out-of-the-box thinking. For this, one should have an analytical mind. He talked about his experience of getting posted in adverse (backward/deprived) tribal areas when he converted this adverse situation to an opportunity. He found an innovative solution to prevent tribal people to move from one area of cultivation to another over 1-2 years as the land was losing fertility after doing cultivation for some time.
Mr. Subramanyam said every family wants their children to take up job after completing College/University education. This way all the innovation spirit of the students get lost which is a great loss for the nation. Mr. Subramanyam’s department came up with the idea of of setting up a hub for the poorest. They are setting up a scheme wherein students with innovative ideas will be supported with a salary package comparable to industry package for 3-5 years. Then, these youngsters can go for social/economic evolution with path breaking ideas. Such youngsters with brilliant innovative ideas can be given venture capital of Rs. 5 crore to set up enterprise so that they become job creators rather than job seekers.
