International Yoga Day Celebration
The idea for declaring an International Day of Yoga at the United Nations was formally proposed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, in his maiden address to the 69th United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) on 27th September 2014. Based on this announcement we decided to celebrate International Yoga day for not just one but for 4 days to spread enthusiasm among the members and students of Manav Rachna of a great initiative. Information and asans of Yoga are exhibited in B Block Seminar Hall from 10 am (18th June 2015 ) to 4pm (21st June) and to acknowledge hidden knowledge of Yoga within Manav Rachna Family and an online Essay Competition was also organized on Yoga. Result of the Competition was declared as : Ms.Rajlaxmi from CCC as winner, Mrs. Bharti Nagpal from U.S (Sister of Mr. Vipin from CRC) as 1st runner up andMs. Priyanka (office executive-EEE-FET-MRIU) as 2nd Runner up. The programme was ably coordinated by Dr. Shobha Srivastava, Dy. Registrar, FET, MRIU.
On 18th June 2015 a series of programmes were conducted to begin a healthy start which included a Yoga Session by Dr. Savita Singh(Clinical Psychologist- Sarvodaya Hospital) and Meditation inputs by Dr. Shobha Srivastava (Deputy Registrar-FET, MRIU). Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. N.C Wadhwa graced with his presence and blessings. Dr. V.K.Mahna(PVC), Mr. K.C.Dadhwal (Registrar-MRIU), Dr. MK.Soni(Ed & Dean FET), Dr. Naresh Grover (Dean Academics and Director Admissions), Prof. I.K.Kilam (DSW & Director RMR), Dr. B.S.Gill(Director MRIIC), Senior Faculty members and nearly 100 faculty & staff members of MRIU participated in this yoga programme.
Few useful tips were shared by Dr. Savita Singh on how to lose weight and how to eliminate common health problems by displaying Yoga asans and some exercise which can be done on a daily basis in just couple of minutes.
After today’s morning session, everyone was briefed about the activities to be conducted on the following days which included acupressure, Diet counseling, etc
