International workshop on ‘Cancer Immunotherapy, theme: Gene Therapy in Cancer’
Dr. Nidhi Didwania, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, FET, MRIIRS delivered an insightful session in the 2nd International workshop on ‘Cancer Immunotherapy, theme: Gene Therapy in Cancer’ recently at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. It was an excellent initiative by Dr. Ajit Saxena, Chairman, Delhi Tumour Board in collaboration with Sonalika Group to build synergy between the two arms, clinicians and researchers working in the field of cancer.
Dr. Nidhi spoke about the Gene Editing: CRISPR/Cas 9 Technology and the theme of the lecture was “CRISPR getting CRISPR”. She emphasized that it is the time now for biotechnologists, scientists, clinicians, students and teachers to work together in a team on a common platform and help build the field of Gene therapy in India to fight cancer.
The lecture was followed by the panel discussion which was moderated by Dr. Debojyoti Charaborty, Senior Scientist, IGIB and Dr. G.K. Jadhav, Senior Consultant, Radiation Oncology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals. Dr. Ajit Saxena, Chairman Delhi Tumour Board extended a sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Nidhi for being an eminent speaker at the workshop.
The Chief Guest of the workshop was Prof. N. K. Ganguly, AHERF, Former Director General (ICMR), Visiting Professor of Eminence, Policy Center for Biomedical Research, Translational Health Science & Technology Institute, Honorary Senior Research Professor (Clinical Research), Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences, Professor (GRIPMER).
The Guest of Honour were Dr. Amulya Panda, Director, National Institute of Immunology (NII) and Dr. Kirk Smith, Professor of Global Environmental Health, University of California. The other speakers were from Engene Inc. Canada, Medicago R & D Inc, Qubec city, Translational Health Science & Technology Institute (THSTI), NCR Biotech-Science cluster, IIT, Delhi, AIIMS, Apollo Hospitals, Safdarjung Medical College, Glenmark Pharamaceuticals and many other eminent institutions. The main goal of this workshop was to cater to a broad range of audience comprising students, medical doctors, representatives from pharmaceutical companies and academic professionals.
