International Women’s Day celebrated through a series of events at Manav Rachna
To celebrate the International Women’s day, a series of events were organized across the campus at Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) today.
The highlight of the celebrations was the enactment of ‘PrashnPanchali’- Mahabharata in fast forward by acclaimed actor Ms. Preeta Thakur. PrashnPanchali is authored by SunitaBudhiraja and directed by Dinesh Thakur, set to Amod Bhatt’s music. PrashnPanchali is a brave one-woman play where Draupadi confronts the audience’s ingrained cultural perceptions. As Draupadi questions, her relationships and situations find an easy echo in the life situations of today’s women.The solo enactment left the audience speechless.
The book ‘PrashnPanchali’ authored by SunitaBudhiraja was launched on the occasion in the presence of Ms. Rashmi Malik, Director, SPICMACAY; Dr. N C Wadhwa, VC, MRIIRS; Dr. Chavi Bhargava Sharma, Dean FBSS, MRIIRS and other senior dignitaries. Another book titled ‘Tulsiwadi’ authored by Ms. Pooja Atul Kumar (alumni of MREI) was also launched. This marked the culmination of the three-day event ‘Swayam Siddha’.
A Moto Cross Rally for women drivers was flagged off from the MREI campus by Ms. Sanyogita Sharma, Director, MRIS; Mr. Vinod Kumar, Traffic Instructor, Central Zone, Faridabad; Traffic Tauji and faculty members. The rally saw widespread participation from women drivers. A NukkadNatak discussing various women-related issues was also showcased.
In another event organized jointly with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) at the MREI campus, Ms. Pooja Dabla, ACP Women’s Cell, Faridabad; Ms. Tina Sharma, Director, Women’s Foundation of ASSOCHAM and Ms. Deepa Antil, President of the NGO SashaktNariParishad addressed the girl students. They spoke at length about the concern of the students and the various policies and laws that are in place for the benefit of women.
